Support The Daf Reactions Project

Jewish laughter and Jewish learning are acts of Jewish resilience

Your tax-deductible donation sustains this learning community!

Shalom, friends!

On June 7, 2027, the current Daf Yomi cycle of learning the entire Babylonian Talmud comes to an end.

And the brand-new cycle revs up the very next day.

For those of us who have been doing Daf Yomi all this time, this is incredibly exciting. It's the culmination of seven-and-a-half years of learning, growth, confusion, enlightenment, laughter, tears, and, most important of all, community.

And for those who have been waiting for the perfect moment to leap into the Sea of Talmud, this is incredibly exciting too. Your time has almost arrived!!

It is my honor and privilege, as your Daf Reactions Talmudic Hype Woman-in-Chief, to be here for all of it.

Over the coming year, in addition to regular content like Daf Reactions and Jewish Lore Reactions, I'll be creating new resources, guides, and tools to help current learners cross the finish line, and to welcome a whole new generation of Daf Yomi adventurers.

Every Jewish Book Reactions video? It's going to be a book about Talmud.

Want a head start on what on earth all these Talmudic terms even mean? I'll be creating a video glossary series.

Want to know what it's actually like to maintain a daily learning practice for seven-and-a-half years? You'll hear from expert friends of Daf Reactions in special deep-dive interviews.

You'll meet the sages through mini-biographies by yours truly. I'll share the tips, tricks, and lessons I've picked up along the way. And I'll be highlighting learning opportunities, both online and in person, that can help support you and connect you on your journey.

The Talmud is often called the “Sea of Talmud” because of how vast it is.

But don't worry.

I'm going to provide every flotation device I can!

Doing Daf Yomi, creating Daf Reactions, and getting to learn alongside you, this incredible community, has been without question the most rewarding experience of my life.

So if you're someone who has been inspired to start the next cycle, and you've been waiting for this moment to arrive, I'm not going to lead you to that sea, to the edge of the water, push you in, wave from the shore, and yell, “Bye! Good luck with that! Hope you can swim! I’m out!"

Of course not! I'm going with you!

I will be the Sam to your Frodo, right beside you on this epic quest.

To make all of this possible, today, June 7, I'm launching the Daf Reactions Hadran Alach Giving Campaign to support this work. It is a very Jewish idea that endings are also beginnings. We don’t say goodbye at the end of learning a tractate of the Talmud, or completing the Talmud itself. We say “Hadran Alach,” meaning “we will return to you.”

The campaign will run for one month with a goal of $40,000. The number 40 is, fittingly, highly symbolic in Judaism.

Thanks to the generosity of an AMAZING Jewish organization that believes in this project and this community, donations made through June 30 will be matched dollar-for-dollar, doubling your impact.

And yes, all donations are tax-deductible.

For gifts of $180 and above made in honor or in memory of a loved one, I will proudly include a dedication to them in an upcoming Daf Reactions video.

If this work has meant something to you, if you've learned with me, laughed with me, and/or if you're excited about helping welcome the next generation of Daf Yomi learners, I hope you'll consider making a gift.

Thank you so much, my beloved Daf Reactionaries. You are the world to me. I am so grateful for, and to, all of you.

-Miriam

Here are a few of my favorite comments about what Daf Reactions has meant to you 🥹:

When I need to detoxify from the hate and violence, you tell me a story and I remember Jewish joy. A long kvetch-sesh with a good Jewish friend ends in watching your best Daf Reactions and basking in your unapologetically feminist takes.
Many moons ago I found Daf Reactions. I had been struggling to come to terms with wanting to convert and the difficulties that would bring. The way you present Talmudic stories, and insights into Jewish culture opened up a world of wonder and awe. And helped me find my courage. Thanks to your example of how to be a fierce unapologetic Jewish woman, I passed my Beit Din today, and became a new member of the tribe. One more Australian Jew to add to the mix.
Thank you for all the work you do.
I learn so much from your videos, and they make my whole family happier amidst these horrible times as well. I just started an online course in Talmud learning, and I would not have done that without your channel.
Thank you Miriam. For being a talmida chochama and for encouraging women like me to continue learning. Thank you for your one of a kind charm and charisma. Lastly, thank you for making learning exciting!
Thank you for creating a virtual Yeshiva for the “rest of us” - the ones who didn’t understand this in school, the neurodivergent, the curious but confused, and you do it all with kindness, clarity, and humor - thanks again.
You’ve made it a little easier to be a Jewish American during a time when that is not easy.
Thank you for keeping us motivated and bringing the Sages to life!
Your Talmud videos enriched my Judaism more than ever and, coming from someone who didn’t have much Judaism in her life until somewhat recently, it means a lot for you to make these videos.
My life has been immeasurably enriched by your decision to go on this journey and share it with all of us!
Thank you for making Talmud interesting again. I stopped studying two decades ago, but you’ve rekindled my interest.
Miriam! I started daf yomi because of you, thank you!!
I have started buying Talmud one volume at a time and it’s because of your passion that became a real passion of mine as well.
